As regards Barry Douglas it would seem a mystifying move. I can only surmise that Nuno has seen something in his game that concerns him in relation to the PL and believes he can magic an upgrade on Baz. If it was to do with his length of contract that would be easily solved if Nuno had complete confidence in him, just give him a new deal. So it may seem a rough and tough decision but perhaps it best for both parties.

{Ed047's Note - I must admit im surprised by it as 14 assists last season by a defender is bloody awesome, However i trust Nuno knows what he is doing as he has brought well so far and with a few more likley arrivals Wolves will have a good squad}.

When you look at all the details it makes sense.
2-4 million profit on a player in the last year of his contract and 28 years old with questions raised about his defensive ability. Yes 14 assists and his set pieces were very good, but we have Neves and Moutinho who can replicate the set pieces and get the assists. Good business, no time for sentiment where Fosun and Nuno are concerned.

All the best Barry, thank you for your service, you will be remembered fondly and as part of the start of the New Wolves.

Guys BD to me was a revelation last season, BUT his powers of recovery were not the best and towards the latter end of the season opposition knew this and played on it.
So come this season Nuno highlighted the need for someone a bit higher in quality I believe.
I am sorry to see him go but Fosun has not achieved their success by being sentimental.
Be prepared for dismantling of last seasons squad.
In Nuno I trust with all fingers crossed!

We will have to get used to this sort of thing. It does not mean that Barry Douglas was not good enough, but that we are moving on to better things. Nuno seems to be a great tactician and I can't see him being satisfied until we are world beaters!

Nuno certainly didn't come to Wolves to coach a mid-table Premier League team. He could have gone to other Champions League teams but he chose Wolves because he knows the owners want to take this team to the heights of world football.
How long it will take is anybody's guess but if you think Jeff Shi is going to putz around with a couple changes here and a couple changes there every year for 10 years while we slowly work our way up the table, then you are sorely mistaken.
For those of you editors who don't know, Wolves have beefed up their scouting over the last two years and now know all of the top players in the world and their strengths and weaknesses. They have an idea what they will sell for and if they are good enough to play for a top Premier League or Champions League team.
Wolves are not doing this on the cheap, they are approaching this after consulting with other top international teams to see how they have been set up to reach their levels of success.
They know how many scouts top teams need. They know what kinds of training facilities top teams need. They know what kind of backroom staff top teams have and they are trying to emulate that to improve Wolves chances of becoming equally as successful.
That is why I think Wolves will do much better than many of you think.

I’m very disappointed to see Barry Douglas go, particularly for such a modest fee. IMO his all round game is more than good enough for the Premier League. Jonny his replacement is right footed with modest experience- let’s hope the manager does regret it.
