Not sure why we have chased Marshall, a right winger- perhaps the left footed Costa will play left wing. I would rather of had Rhodes.

I still think not buying a quality striker, like Rhodes will likely bite us on the you know where later this season. Cost us a real chance of making it to the PL. Another great result last night. Well done to the team and PL. 👍😉

You really believe we could have made it to the prem this season?
Jesus Christ.

I agree, the playoffs are not a million miles away from us. We are 10 points away, I think we missed a trick to not go for bogle and taylor could have even loaned out Dicko for the rest of the season to league 1. Let him score goals and get his confidence back for next season.

Marshall bought with a public price of £1.2m. I am told it was less, but Blackburn happy for that figure to be quoted.
Lambert know this guy and clearly has a role for him in the future team.
Totally agree we need a PL quality Striker, but this is the wrong time to buy!
Lambert will have his targets and I would be pretty sure he has already agreed a Budget with Jeff, so he knows how high up the "Food-Chain" he can go for all the Positions he feels he needs to strengthen.
We should be ALL feeling positive. Lambert likes Costa and pursuaded Jeff to pay out mega money, he has Andreas Weimann in on loan, who looked good against Liverpool and now Marshall.
Clearly Fosun are now seriously backing him!

I think Lambert is looking ahead with strikers. Weimann scored 12 goals in a PL season for Lambert. I would rather have him than Rhodes who has so far failed in the PL. Lambert obviously rates Dicko, and Dicko is playing well although not scoring, but his quality is there at this level.

I don't know if a top quality striker would make much of a difference as many of our goals come from midfield or set balls from defenders. It's the way we play. The strikers mostly hold the ball up front and they do have shots - just not very successful ones.

We have Mason, Dicko, Bright, Bod, Zyro and now Weimann with Costa, Cav, Ronan, Graham and depending on how your mind works, Edwards just behind. That's better than most clubs. Or should be. Patience.

Very soon Bod will shock us all with a hattrick.

Think Lambert is doing a great job, giving playing time to all players he wants to keep most likely or giving everyone a chance to prove themselves of interest and have to admire the game time he is giving to the kids, also Lambert says Marshall can play full back, also any were across the front or just behind also with championship experience could be a good sighning, let's not forget Andrea's Weimann, also can play up front or wide, so why would we want to pay 9 million for Rhodes when he cannot get in Borough side, proves not a premier player, anyway he as been sold or loaned to Sheffield Wednesday, I do not pretend that we need strengthening in key areas but Lambert with the experience he is showing will no doubt in my mind given time will get it right, the performances so far prove that, the players seam to be enjoying there football and there seams to be a buzz about the place, hope it continues.

They just paid £13m on one player, was that not enough? Rhodes would cost another £10m. Also, it's the defence which needs it most and Hanley is the player you should be regretting, if anyone.

I agree to most of what you say Rugeleywolf2. However, I still stand by what I say, we missed a trick by NOT signing a quality striker! We've just won 4 of our last 5 games, which is fantastic. Now is the time to put your foot down and ensure we've got a striker that can actually do that, strike.

Time will tell! Every year players are costing more and more to buy. Finding good proven quality strikers is not easy! As I've already said their value increases year on year and Rhodes is a proven commodity. 👍😉⚽️

As you say won four of five so why upset the applecart

Carl Cort is on a free. Just saying.

Was that the first transfer window in a while where Frimpong hasn't been a serious suggestion?

Word on the street up north is that Rhodes was always going to Sheff Wed because of his rather connection to the club. General view seems to be that his best role has been the final bit of quality to bring off the bench to get you promoted. But not a prem player so unload when promoted. He has been a good investment iin the past but with a new club every year how long will that last? We do have good options and PL would have given Ennis a chance if not injured. But I think PL may be tempted to Gallagher in the summer currently on loan at Blackburn.

The teams in the playoffs are there for a reason, do you really think were going to pick up that many more points than them?

Seems that we will just have to get Robbie Keane in then

Robbie Keane is a free agent, presumably. We could sign him if we wanted.

Further down this thread someone actually said why upset the apple cart by getting an additional striker. Well all I can say is every really successful team has its 20 goal a season striker doesn't it? How many of ours actually strike? They don't have that composure needed when in front of goal.

That's what you pay for. I still think we will regret not getting a Rhodes in this last window. We needed to put our foot down while we are getting some momentum. Long may our current form last. They are doing a great job. Now was not the time to address the issue. 👍😉⚽️
