it will be confirmed a double swoop for stearman and cavliero today personally I can't make my mind up with stearman he's good with the ball at his feet and our new signings may just bring the best out of him but yeah defensively is he better than what we already have?

A worrying development for me. we only wanted to keep him as fans because by letting him go, we were stretched with cover. Even I couldn't blame Morgan taking the £2 million from Fulham!
Clearly not cut it at Fulham, so why would we want him back?

Slightly different view on Stearman, we need an experienced CH, we have less than 24 hours to go, we already have 11 new players to bed in and they have to get used to the city the club the fans and the country. Stears (although not the best option) may be just what we need until January, someone who knows the division someone who knows the club and someone experienced and already has a relationship with the defenders at the club. Don't get me wrong i'd have preferred a new player but instead of panic buying, I see Stearman as a steady safe signing for now.

At least Stearman needs no time to adapt. Straight in at CB!

I think Stears is a decent loan deal, and since we've missed out on Luisao, Boly, Mawson and Duffy a new CB will be top priority in January!

Apart from the mistake against Huddersfield, I think Batth has had a bright start to the season. Iorfa and Hause have been a lot more shaky and need to be dropped from the side imo.

Backline:

Doherty - Stearman - Batth - B-Jackson

Iorfa and Hause can fill in FB and CB positions if and when needed.

Sky sports just confirmed stearman 1 year loan move. can't say I'm happy about this 1 we do need a exp centre half but I wanted it to be better than what we got. Not jus for our 1st team now but to help with players like iorfa n hause. Oh can any1 tell me where the calviero's actual position? Some reports say winger others say forward?

So let’s get this right.

For years some fans were moaning Stearman wasn’t very good.

He then wins player of the year.

We sell him, leading to fans moaning at the club for selling one of our few experienced players who is a good defender in the Championship.

We then moan we need an experienced defender in the Championship, ideally someone who has been promoted.

We then get Stearman back to the club, an experienced defender in the Championship, who not only has been promoted, but actually promoted as a champion with Wolves.

And how do some fans respond. By moaning we need someone better.

I sometimes get the feeling that if we were signing a young Steve Bull these days, some fans would be moaning that he wouldn’t be any good because his first touch was terrible, ignoring the fact his second touch was in the back of the net.

Personally I think it's quite a clever move in the short-medium term. Somebody who knows the club and the players - and who wants to play for the club.

Wolves fans are never happy!

Its a very smart move getting Stears in for several reasons, many stated above. I expect there he was 3rd or 4th choice for CB and we are out of time on the window. This is a loan so if it does not work out well then he goes.

Well Clive, the moans about selling were probably more to do with the poor quality potential replacements still at the club than his actual ability. Centre half has clearly been a major issue for a few years. How the club haven't addressed this in the new age is beyond me but, there again, maybe Mendez hasn't many central defenders on his books because they are not 'sexy'!
